From my experience I think a little caffeine enhances a workout. However, it has to be properly timed or else I have to pee during my workout.
Running in New Zealand After having my caffeine
I’ll always remember running the San Diego marathon in June 2001 for my caffeine need story. I was running it with my girlfriend from high school and we were laying out our clothes the night before. I was scheming how I would get my coffee fix the next morning because she didn’t have it at her house. We had to wake up well before 5am and needed to leave early to get on a bus to be shuttled to the start. I remember buying a cold frappacino drink from the grocery store just in case our Starbucks run didn’t work out. Didn’t need it because Starbucks worked just fine. We pulled into the Starbucks drive through about 10 minutes before it opened, I knocked on the window and pleaded my story of needing my caffeine before the San Diego marathon. They couldn’t believe we were running the marathon and happily hooked us up with java. I’m pretty sure it was even on the house. Something my husband reminds me of nowadays is that you have to ask… I guess I’ve been asking all along. Good times.
Cheers to you and your drink of choice and may it serve you well!

Your husband is so right. Ask. Nothing to lose, a lot to gain. I remember being in a restaurant last year with a 22 year old. She did not want fries with her meal. She asked the server if the fries could be replaced with fruit or cottage cheese. She got both! Whoa!
i remember doing the san diego marathon with you in 1995 and even back then we were obsessed about where to get our coffee-we walked over to that little convenience store and grabbed some random caffeine drink and some obscure snack bar. lol. that looks like a cool trail. love the pictures
